JOB TITLE: Vice President of Finance – Optical Technologies

REPORTING TO: Vice President of Finance, Scientific Fluidics & Optics

LOCATION: Remote

SCOPE OF ROLE:

The Vice President of Finance – Optical Technologies will be an integral member of the OT Leadership Team. This person will be responsible for providing financial solutions to grow sales, expand margins and generate strong cash flow. They will also be responsible for maintaining a financial reporting/internal control system that will provide management with the appropriate financial and operating information and data analytics. The Vice President of Finance will develop, analyze and interpret statistical and accounting information in order to appraise and positively improve operating results in terms of profitability, performance, operational excellence and other criteria that directly reflect the fiscal soundness and operating effectiveness of the OT business unit.

The Vice President of Finance is a member of the OT Leadership Team and aids in the planning, direction, and policy making. This person also communicates and supports the strategic and operational plans of the OT business unit. Success in this position requires the ability to build a strong partnership with the OT President and entire OT Leadership Team, and frequently communicates with peers and SF&O group management. These relationships must be built on respect, integrity, cooperation, trust, teamwork, confidentiality and professionalism.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Provide financial analysis, forecasting, budgeting & strategic guidance for the global OT business

  • Ensure compliance with all legally mandated global external financial reporting requirements, including the Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) reporting

  • Audit the operations for compliance to corporate and business unit policies and procedures

  • Prepare & consolidate financial statements and ensure timely and accurate financial results for the global business

  • Prepare detailed analyses of financial statement results for OT for presentation to the VP of Finance, SF&O, including cost trends, customer profitability, product line profitability and variance analysis

  • Participate in M&A due diligence and integration activities in support of OT’s acquisition strategy

  • Direct the overall accounting function including general ledger, and monthly close

  • Direct the financial reporting, financial planning, forecasting, budgeting and product line profitability analysis while improving financial processes to drive increased efficiency

  • Responsible for the overall management and development of the OT Finance Department, including staff supervision

  • Provide coaching and encourage the talent development of the finance team. Participate in executive development

  • Assure an effective financial plan for the control of operations by implementing and effectuating an adequate control environment

  • Guarantee the accuracy and ongoing maintenance of the financial system

  • Support investment decisions by providing return on investment/net present value/etc., calculations and applies appropriate benchmarks to maximize returns

  • Drive, support and utilize the Company’s process improvement initiatives

  • Lead and/or participate in special projects and assignments as required

  • Strive to continuously improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the financial reporting and data analytical support of the OT business platform

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Management experience in accounting and cost accounting expertise is required

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience with progressive financial responsibility and accountability in a manufacturing-based, industrial environment

  • Must have prior exposure to all facets of the function, particularly operational finance, control, and financial planning and analysis

  • Proven experience with US GAAP and SOX requirements

  • Experience in a process-focused organization and experience working with J.D. Edwards, or another ERP System is required

  • Driven by the principles of continuous improvement and talent development

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

  • An in-depth understanding of accounting principles, practices, procedures and controls on manual and automated systems, and the ability to exercise independent judgment within established systems and procedures.

  • Excellent analytical and forecasting skills, and the ability to translate complex situations into information that will support the profitability and growth of the business

  • Ability to work collaboratively with virtual and global teams

  • Proven developer of talent & experience building strong teams

  • Demonstrates the ability to persuade others to achieve excellence and to foster an environment of openness and teamwork; a supportive manner that facilitates their ability to achieve results

  • Demonstrates organizational abilities and excellent project management leadership expertise

  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills, which include active listening

  • Well-developed business sense, which will include an understanding of markets, customers and competitors

  • Leader who is self-confident in their own abilities, who is always available to coach or counsel others

  • Strategic thinker/problem solver who can effectively interface with all levels of employees in an international environment

  • Ability to analyze the details, but also to be able to step back and “look at the big picture”.

  • Consistently operates at the highest level of integrity and is never willing to compromise with regards to ethical standards

  • Requires approximately 30% travel

  • This is a remote role

Total Rewards

The compensation range for this position is $214,200.00 - $214,200.00, depending on experience. This position may be eligible for performance based bonus plan.
