This role is onsite in Cedar Falls, IA with a hybrid schedule
Primary Function:
The Cost Accountant will perform accounting analysis, cost evaluation and report generation for the Operations area of Viking Pump. Delivers operational support to the Manufacturing/Operations Team by maintaining effective partnerships allowing the business to be lean, efficient, and successful, resulting in improved profits and reduced working capital. Provide guidance, as the functional expert, to all Viking businesses.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities :
Daily/Weekly:
Monitor cost accounting system for errors/weaknesses and pro-actively recommend ideas to improve processes and procedures.
Review purchase price and material usage variances for appropriateness and corrective action.
Review work order variances, determine cause, and correct variances.
Enters costs for any un-costed parts, through the PRN database or other means, on a timely basis.
Coordinate with Payroll to balance payroll distribution with the labor hours reported thru labor reporting.
Own the production hours report, including analysis and interpretation to the broader team.
Track department changes to ensure accuracy of the production hours report.
Assists the Account Payable Analyst when needed.
Lead and assist with special projects and duties as assigned.
Monthly/Yearly:
Prepare regular reports detailing labor hour performance, material purchase price variance, and inflation on purchased material. Review large variances with Machine Shop & Foundry departments and appropriate personnel.
Prepare the monthly labor and burden absorption forecast, including meeting with Supervisors and Managers for input.
Prepare the Direct Material Inflation report monthly.
Coordinate the quarterly inventory counts on send-out inventory.
Assist in coordinating the annual physical inventory, with the Cost Accounting Manager and Operations Team.
Completes the annual Labor and Burden study.
Complete the yearly AOQ review.
Complete the yearly cost roll process.
Complete the yearly ABC inventory re-stratification.
Lead the month end close process for certain areas, and assist in other areas.
Complete the monthly intercompany recharges, freight calculation and accrual.
Participate in the testing and documentation of SOX, including updating current information.
Prepare and calculate the annual MIT accrual in accordance with Idex policy.
Advanced:
Prepare data for and participate in monthly inventory review meetings, including:
Leading the EOZ reduction discussion.
MTD inventory levels vs forecast comparison.
Assist in the Cycle Count process, including reviewing and approving cycle counts.
Other:
- Cost Accounting training lead for Idex Finance Development Program.
Education and/or Experience Requirements :
Associates degree in Accounting, Finance or other related field required.
B.S or B.A in Accounting, Finance or other related field preferred.
Experience in manufacturing setting preferred.
Other Special Requirements :
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
Experience with a transactional computer system.
Computer Skills :
Proficient with Microsoft Office products including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
JDEdwards, OneStream and Webi working knowledge, based on training provided.
