JOB TITLE: Senior Accountant, Shared Services

REPORTING TO: Finance Manager

LOCATION: Open to candidates at our Rohnert Park, CA, Middleboro, MA or Chicago, IL locations

SCOPE OF ROLE:

Provides management with financial information and reporting by researching and analyzing accounts; preparing and publishing relevant financial reporting and filing internal and external compliance documents.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Primary responsibility for all fixed asset reporting including:

  • Asset set up in BNA software

  • Set up and monitoring of CIP

  • Monitor site rolling 5-year physical audit of fixed assets

  • Preparation and filing of property tax returns

  • manage property tax audits by government agencies

  • Oversee accuracy of BNA entry inputs

  • Manage intangible asset set up and amortization.

  • Quarterly communications regarding utility of existing patents

  • Recording patent expenses vs. budget amounts with quarterly report out

  • Primary responsibility for the cash forecast reporting to Corporate (frequency may vary).

  • Monthly closing activities including accruing expenses; preparing journal entries including payroll postings across operating sites; reconciling accounts and uploads to One Stream as needed.

  • Monitors ERP system integrity reports and addresses any reporting issues.

  • Primary responsibility for multi-state Sales and Use tax filings.

  • Assists in the preparation of financial reporting by gathering and analyzing information from the general ledger system and from department leads.

  • Prepares and reviews various operating metrics to monitor business performance.

  • Assists in monthly financial reviews and forecasts for Shared Services department managers.

  • Participates in preparation of the annual budget and forecast packages.

  • Improving accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures; recommending changes.

  • Answers accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.

  • Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.

  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.

  • Participates in inter-departmental projects and inter-site projects as required to support business decisions.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field;

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant accounting experience is required. In a manufacturing environment is preferred;

  • Experience in Oracle based ERP systems, JDE preferred;

  • Experience with One Stream, Hyperion or other financial reporting systems preferred;

  • Strong focus on internal controls;

  • Strong grasp of GAAP accounting and general accounting concepts;

  • Ability to deliver accurate and detailed reports in a timely manner;

  • Demonstrated ability to streamline and automate complex processes;

  • Operations literacy;

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines under pressure;

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications with excellent Excel skills;

  • Flexibility in work schedule as overtime is required based on business needs;

  • Occasional travel may be needed;
