IDEX Finance Manager – Cost & Inventory in Middleborough, Massachusetts

The Finance Manager of Cost & Inventory (FM) is responsible for the overall management, direction, and integrity of the product costing, inventory valuation, and management of working capital for all domestic manufacturing business locations within the business unit.

The FM actively partners with the Finance Director and Site Operations leaders to ensure that our valuation is both appropriate and within compliance to the policies for the overall corporation.

The FM provides direction to the accounting/finance staff and leads initiatives across the manufacturing sites to improve, automate, and simplify current accounting and reporting processes to maximize their efficiency and effectiveness.

The FM mentors staff and develops talent to support the growing needs of the company.


  • Partners and serves as a key resource to local business unit management for financial interpretation and analysis.

  • Coordinates with other functional Finance Managers to meet business objectives and provide appropriate support to local business management.

  • Oversees and manages monthly and quarterly processes related to Standard Costing, EOZ, and Full Absorption by applying accounting theory and IDEX policy as appropriate and insures the timely and accurate completion of all deliverables to IDEX.

  • Oversees inventory accuracy and inventory valuation by implementing and managing policies around cycle counting and physical inventory.

  • Supports financial statement audit and SOX audits.

  • Contributes to the development of new policies and procedures to develop a robust costing framework and ensures compliance throughout the organization.

  • Manages talent by selecting, training, motivating and developing the finance staff.

  • Oversight of daily cost accounting procedures such as new product costing and cycle count adjustments


  • Degree in Accounting or Finance and / or MBA required.

  • Minimum of 8 years of progressively responsible accounting and leadership experience.

  • Experience in reviewing, analyzing, and implementing standard costing.

  • 8 years accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Advanced PC / ERP / Accounting Systems/Excel experience.

  • Thorough knowledge of SOX requirements.

  • Superior verbal and written communication skills to work effectively in a team environment within and outside of the Accounting Department.

  • Assures that performance feedback/reviews, and follow-up on employee feedback, are performed on a formal and informal basis. Identifies and develops candidates for promotion. Performs hiring procedures as required and in accordance with Company guidelines.

  • Maintains the professionalism of the Accounting Department.
