Under minimal direction, the Accounting Manager performs and presents financial reporting, general ledger activities, and internal controls evaluation. The Accounting Manager maintains good professional judgment while demonstrating a strong working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial reporting requirements per IDEX policy. The individual supervises Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable associates and is a key player in supporting cross-functional initiatives and business priorities.
Month End Closing and General Ledger Responsibilities
Lead the preparation and coordination of all financial reporting. Ensure financial statements are accurate and timely in accordance with GAAP and IDEX policy.
Prepare and oversee journal entries – including payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, intercompany transactions, prepayments, fixed assets, intangibles, and miscellaneous journal entries.
Provide critical analysis of all assigned balance sheet accounts and ensure they are reconciled in accordance with IDEX policy.
Perform general ledger and related tasks, including ownership of fixed assets, Concur / Corporate credit card support, and sales and use tax returns.
Responsible for monthly cash flow management and cash forecasting
Conduct on-going reviews of internal controls; ensure controls are appropriately documented and implement best practices to address risk areas.
Lead annual Sarbanes Oxley testing and remediation for revenue, expenditures, IT controls, and financial reporting cycles.
Complete various controllership deliverables, including but not limited to Balance Sheet Reviews, IDEX Key Control Questionnaires, and Segregation of Duties Reviews.
Accounts Receivable Management
Assist AR associate with customer credit decisions, collection efforts, and past due resolution to minimize bad debt exposure and optimize working capital metrics on past due AR and Days Sales Outstanding.
Ensure general and specific bad debt reserves, unclaimed property, customer master maintenance, and compliance checks are conducted according to IDEX policy.
Accounts Payable Management
Provide daily supervision of AP associate.
Assist AP associate with managing Vouchered Accounts Payable, Received Not Vouchered, open Purchase Orders and Debit Memos. Ensure all aged items are investigated and cleared.
Perform detailed review of disbursements. Identify errors and corrective actions with AP associate.
Ensure expenditures are approved per company's approval matrix.
Work with AP associate to optimize vendor payment terms and maximize Accounts Payable to improve working capital metrics on Days Payable Outstanding.
Ensure month end accruals, vendor master maintenance, and compliance checks are conducted according to IDEX policy.
Work with Finance Manager on reporting requirements including but not limited to Annual Operating Plan, Quarterly Operating Reviews, financial analysis, profitability walks, monthly business reviews, as well as other Ad hoc requests.
Identify, improve, automate, and streamline processes within the Finance & IT department.
Support efforts to increase engagement, celebrate success, and develop talent within the Finance & IT department.
Provide guidance to accounting team regarding processes, performance reviews and goal setting.
Co-leads implementing various aspects of 8020, pricing initiatives, lean practices, and partners with leadership to drive KPI performance.
Provide coverage for Finance Manager as needed.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business.
CPA or CMA a plus
5+ years experience in general accounting / finance in a manufacturing environment.
Supervisory experience required.
Strong knowledge of accounting and financial principles (GAAP & SOX)
Strong Excel and ERP system skills.
