Position Summary

The Finance Operations Manager will work closely with the Director of Ops & Site Leader across both sites (Rochester NY and Punta Gorda FL) to develop and implement business strategies, objectives, and operating plans to improve productivity and gross. This position will be integral part of the ops team, partnering with supply chain, sourcing, site, and process improvements leaders to track and manage operational KPI’s driving financial results as the analytical partner to Director of Ops and Site Leader. This position will own the Cost Accounting function. The position will manage ongoing financial accounting, cost accounting planning, forecasting, and analysis including inventory and standard/gross margin and will coach and develop 1 staff accountant that supports AP and basic balance sheet reconciliation.

Essential Functions

  • Cost Accounting

  • Own all inventory and COGS month end close responsibilities including journal entries and account reconciliations

  • Develop and maintain standard cost process including but not limited to routings, yearly standard cost roll, daily standard cost roll, absorption hours, full absorption calculation, PPV analysis

  • Own EOZ reporting and drive reduction and sustainment across both sites including ad-hoc analysis (EOZ by product line, Interim EOZ)

  • Own daily/weekly/monthly material and ops metrics variances including DMI, Cost Productivity (OpEx tracker) and inventory valuation partnering with Ops team to drive inventory turn improvement

  • Own and lead Annual Physical Inventory at both sites including cycle counting reporting

  • Monthly review of SOX related controls to ensure operational efficiency

  • Sustain and improve robust internal control framework and ensures compliance to SOX internal controls for financial reporting

  • Assisting and developing the AOP and monthly rolling forecast with analysis of actual month end results in COGS areas of the P&L

  • Business Partnership & Leadership

  • Lead, mentor and develop staff accountant

  • Partner with Ops Director and Site Leader – part finance team and part operations team to provide regular review of supply chain owned Balance Sheet accounts

  • Lead the month-end and quarter-end OpEX funnel and purchase price variance reporting process with the ability to communicate the findings and action items clearly to the Sourcing/Procurement and Operations teams.

  • Apply a continuous improvement approach with the ability to adopt outside/in thinking that supports operational and financial strategies identifying and recommending continuous improvement projects

  • Deliver finance initiated cross-functional projects and act as a liaison between Operations and IT on projects

  • Lead critical operation initiatives to improve operations profitability and achieve/outperform AOP goals

  • Provide strategic financial partnership and direction to the operations team optimizing profit margins for both sites including layout efficiency, 8020 complexity reduction, sourcing, productivity, burden cost management, inventory risk management and CAPEX optimization.

  • Successfully partner and align with all other functions including SIOP management

  • Monitors, analyzes, & researches sourcing savings opportunities

  • Deliver high quality of ad hoc analysis

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance


  • 5+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience in a manufacturing environment

  • Cost accounting and experience in a manufacturing environment highly desirable

  • Strong Balance Sheet and Income Statement comprehension

  • Strong foundation in Cost Accounting including understanding of standard cost in a manufacturing environment with experience establishing material, labor, and burden standard costs

  • Strong Standard Cost Accounting background with ERP experience

  • Strong working knowledge of Generally Accepted Principles (GAAP) and the ability to research and apply accounting pronouncements as appropriate

  • Experience in a matrix environment

  • Experience in preparing, analyzing, and implementing accounting and reporting requirements.

  • Experience with PC and ERP system usage – JDE and OneStream preferred


  • Proficient computer and technological skills, including high proficiency in OneStream and Microsoft Office Applications preferred

  • Superior verbal and written communication skills

Physical Environment and Environmental Factors

  • Regularly works in an office setting

  • Travel to Punta Gorda FL on a quarterly basis is required once COVID restrictions have been lifted

  • Frequently required to stand, sit, talk, and hear

  • Must be able to work in front of a computer for a large portion of the day

  • May occasionally lift to 20lbs
