The Senior Accountant provides financial planning and analysis in support of the financial and operational success for the Hurst Jaws of Life location. The role is responsible for the timely and accurate collection and reporting of financial information and analysis. The role participates in inter-departmental projects as required to support business decisions and profitability improvement. Position requires knowledge of U.S. GAAP and manufacturing / financial reporting, Sarbanes-Oxley, and business operations in a growth-oriented environment.

The Senior Accountant is a key member of the local accounting team, will partner with leaders in the business unit, and support multiple functional areas.

REPORTS TO: Reports directly to the Finance Manager.


  • Participate in the month-end close process, including preparation of required journal entries, supplemental schedules, and account reconciliations.

  • Prepare monthly business review package and supporting analysis.

  • Prepare and review various daily/weekly operating metrics to monitor business performance.

  • Prepare actual versus budget analysis and analyze fluctuations.

  • Participate in the preparation of the annual budget and periodic forecasts.

  • Work closely with cross functional team to calculate and monitor trends of KPI’s.

  • Perform product line profitability, manufacturing capacity, and related analyses.

  • Assist in strategic inventory management goals and make vs. buy decisions.

  • Partner with Operations in leading the annual physical inventory.

  • Participate in annual audits as necessary (SOX, internal, external).

  • Cross-train and collaborate with cost accounting to analyze product costing and manufacturing spend.

  • Operate with a continuous-improvement mindset and drive for favorable business results.

  • Responsible to become knowledgeable of function-relevant IDEX policies and facilitate adherence to said policies within the organization.

  • All other duties as assigned


  • Degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA, CMA, or MBA a plus.

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of accounting/financial reporting experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Organized and able to prioritize tasks/objectives.

  • High level of verbal and written communication skills to work effectively outside the accounting department.

  • Consistently operate at a high level of integrity and uphold relevant controls.

  • Experience in a process focused organization (Six Sigma, Value Streams) and experience working with JDE or ERP Systems is preferred. Proficiency in MS Office applications (advanced Excel). Knowledge of Power BI is a plus
