A. PRIMARY FUNCTION
The Strategic Account Manger maintains and expands relationships with strategically large (primarily OEM) customers and is responsible for achieving sales quotas and assigned strategic account objectives. The Strategic Account Manager represents the entire range of company products and services to assigned customers, while leading the customer account planning cycle and ensuring assigned customer’s needs and expectations are met by the company.
B. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Establishes productive, professional relationships with key personnel in assigned customer accounts.
Coordinates the involvement of company personnel, including customer service, operations, and management resources, in order to meet account performance objectives and customer’s expectations.
Meets assigned targets for profitable sales volume and strategic objectives in assigned accounts.
Proactively works with business line leader in strategic account planning process that develops mutual performance objectives, financial targets, and critical targets for a one- and three-year period.
Proactively assesses, clarifies, and validates customer needs on an ongoing basis.
Leads solution development efforts that best address customer needs, while coordinating the involvement of all necessary company personnel.
Achieves assigned sales quota in designated strategic accounts.
Meets assigned expectations for profitability.
Achieves strategic customer objectives defined by company management.
Completes strategic customer account plans that meet company standards.
Maintains high customer satisfaction ratings that meet company standards.
Closely coordinates with Business Line Leader in coordination of implementation resources, service support, and marketing resources to achieve customer launch objectives.
Maintain Competitive knowledge to create and adjust sales strategies.
Attend clinical meetings, seminars, and conferences as appropriate.
C. ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
Direct reports: None
Bachelor’s degree in business or sciences; 5 years’ experience and success in managing strategic accounts in the Institutional, Hospitality & Laundry environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Solid technical capabilities in terms of understanding both electrical and mechanical requirements of the Institutional, Hospitality & Laundry environment.
Proven business analysis and judgment with the ability to proactively manage strategic accounts.
Exceptional negotiation and organizational skills.
Ability to build positive working relationships, both internally and externally.
Ability to effectively present information and negotiate with all levels of management.
Demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills.
Strong presentation skills, self-motivated, team oriented, innovative strategic thinker with a passion for driving results.
Previous chemical and/or equipment sales experience in the Institutional, Hospitality & Laundry marketplace.
Prior experience at Ecolab, Diversey or similar company a plus.
E. OTHER SPECIALIZED DUTIES, & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS, ETC.
Ability to travel as required, estimated to be 50% or more, domestic and international.
