IDEX Accounts Payable Supervisor in Waterloo, Ontario

The Accounts Payable Supervisor is responsible for maintaining and enhancing all payment processes and procedures for the business to ensure vendors are paid accurately and on time. Responsibilities also include month end reporting and reconciling for AP for three business lines (Quadro, Microfluidics and Fitz). The incumbent will report to the Accounting Manager, MPT Waterloo.


  • Develops guidelines for proper handling and coding of invoices to maintain general ledger expense account and inventory records

  • Reconciles accounts payable general ledger to subledgers

  • Manages the check disbursements, mailing, file storage, and document retention

  • Manages AP Email Inbox; delegating invoices to AP staff and responding to vendors and internal staff in a timely manner

  • Month end close including reconciliation and reporting

  • Ensure all monthly account reconciliations are performed accurately and on time

  • Responsible for the implementation of robust internal controls, monitoring compliance, and for the maintenance of adequate documentation

  • Implements process and procedural improvements to optimize the workflow within the department. Moving away from reliance on paper invoices and approvals.

  • Other duties, as assigned


Must Have:

  • At least 5 years related Accounts Payable experience

  • Excellent supervisory and analytical skills

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to motivate staff

  • Solid working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and SOX with experience driving improvements in internal controls

  • Strong written and verbal communications skills; ability to interact clearly and confidently with all levels in the organization

  • Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite or related software

  • High level of integrity and ethical standards
